A little over two years ago my wife and I decided to transfer to this Post for a multitude of reasons. Adrienne was quite active with a previous Post and served as Auxiliary President for two years. I attended several meetings but became disenchanted with the leadership and other goings on and took no further interest. We decided to downsize our home, bought a condo in Shelby Twp and decided we wanted to join Post 351. Wanting to contribute something to the Post we volunteered to take over the website that was almost dormant and barely used. It was not up to date and not serving the Post the way a website should in todays ways.
It has been over a year now that the website has been up and running and I believe we can all say we are very proud of it. The monthly news is current, all parts of the Post are represented, pictures of all events are included and we are receiving positive feedback from our membership. The best news is that I was informed at the January General meeting we have received two new membership applications as a direct result of the website.
It's a start and we all hope it's a start for bigger and better things for 2009 and beyond. We need new blood and new membership and that means new ideas for the future. Instead of five or six people doing all the work we need others to step up, donate their time and support this Post.
Another footnote....I spoke to two members who showed up at the January meeting to claim medals for service time as a result of an article appearing on the December website......one for 30 year service and the other for 35 years of service in the American Legion.
Thank you membership for your support.
HELP HELP HELP
The post is seeking members who may have a background in plumbing, electrical, air conditioning, heating, cooling etc to just stop in, look things over and give their opinion and advise on what they feel might need work, fixing or whatever, it's a great way to help out and support your Post. Like all of us, the ole building is getting old and needs fixing etc.
Please contact Don, Christine of the Housing Commission or better yet attend our monthly meeting the first Monday night of each month.
We really need help and at least advice on what to do and where to go.
