It was 10:00 A.M., Monday morning, St Patrick's Day, when Adrienne Lawrence and Reina Svacha unlocked the door and turned the lights on to get things going for our St Patrrick's Day Party. It was 10:00 P.M. when they turned out the lights and locked the door and left. Yes, it was a long 12 hours but early comments from our members and guests was that it was well worth it. Estimates are that over 100 people attended and we made money for the Legion and the Auxiliary. The food was excellant, the music was great, the hall was beautifully decorated and the green beer flowed. The guests were happy, laughing, singing, friendly and seemed to really be enjoying themselves. St Patrick couldn't be prouder. We awarded gag gifts, a large basket of cheer and a great 50/50 that benefited the Post. Everyone was dressed in their Irish green finery including hats, jewelery and the tables were decorated beautifully.
A special thanks to Co-chairman Adrienne Lawrence and her kitchen crew that worked 10-12 hours with hardly a break to make the party a success. the crew consisted of Reina Svacha, Bob Schreiber, Joan Pfaff, Diane O'Kroy, Pete Olesen and Don Koperwas. These special members cooked, cleaned, peeled, washed, set up, carried, chopped, kept the stoves going and God knows what else....and never a complaint or problem. What a great, hard working, dedicated group and I might add...all in their 60's, 70's and yes... 80's. Adrienne did almost all of the shopping and buying.
Others who gave their time and effort were Co-Chairman Bob Swoszowski, Mary Ann Swoszowski, Wade Zander, Vickie Manns, Norm Pfaff, Milly Rank, Mike Weaver, Colleen Weaver, Roger Field, Bruce Dyer Ed Durham and Mike Swyder. I'm sure there were others and I apoligize for omitting their names. You know who you are. Thank You.
We really appreciate those who took the time to donate their services and to the many who brought their friends and family and participated in the party. To those who chose not to....your loss. Many members complain that we have nothing to offer but when we do....where are you and where is your support?

WOW!
What a Party!
I think Norm summed up most of my comments, but I would like to add just a few of my thoughts.
It takes many people to put together such a gathering and as Co-Chairman of this event I have to give a thumbs up to a superior crew pictured above who worked with me on the dinner, decorations and entertainment. Don Koperwas should also be included in this picture, but, of course, he was off doing another important job. Without their help and cooperation this couldn't have been such a great party. All those who stepped up to the plate (no pun intended) to help out gave it their all. Many of these people participated in ways far and above what was asked of them. I'm not going to single out one individual, but they know who they are and I can't begin to thank them enough for their dedication to make this party successful.
Let's give it up for:

DON KOPERWAS
DIANE O'KROY
PETE OLESEN
JOAN PFAFF
BOB SCHREIBER
MARYANN AND BOB SWOSZOWSKI
REINA SVACHA
and
Let's not forget the others who also helped !
I feel there could have been only one change and that in the future we need clean up committees. After spending many hours in preparation of the event, the same people had to do the clean up and they were pushed to a high level of exhaustion. This should not have happened. I looked for volunteers to step up and help with the clean up, but they didn't and it was disappointing. So not to end on a negative note I am posting pictures of a great party in the Photo Gallery.
Before I conclude I would also want to give a big THANK YOU to Wade Zander who was so instrumental in helping. As past chair of this event he gave all the information and direction needed to pull this event off. He keeps telling us he's burned out, but this is one candle that will always remain lit in hour hearts as he does so much for this post. WE LOVE YOU WADE!
